Navarch Hugo Theme Roadmap

The custom theme for this site is not complete after release, there are still a lot of things in the pipeline to be made before being able to release the theme publicly.

This theme has been in the works for a couple of months, due to being busy at work and a few revisions. I think the current state of the theme is usable, which is why it has been deployed. Some of the theme’s features are listed in the Projects section of the main page

Tentative Planned:

  • Display last edited for posts, and a way to modify the post’s edited date easily
    • Maybe show the last edited using the tooltip webcomponent on the posted date of the post
  • Prettier code snippet styling
  • Better way to handle social list from hugo.toml
  • Tooltip webcomponent
    • Hint the tags popover on page lists, put it next to the headers
  • Update modal webcomponent to handle modal urls
    • Probably use query string
  • Language option: 日本語
    • Will probably use the built-in hugo translation option
  • Easy way to change the color theme
    • I also want to revisit my own color scheme
  • Better post image placement method
  • Default public search page
    • Tidy up advanced search page
    • Need a default keyword search function, probs google search for now
  • Calendar styled archive view
    • Maybe this will go on the adv search page
  • More responsive design and cleanup
  • Comments section
  • RSS support
  • Readme that documents all the features and how to use them
  • Hugo theme requirements

Above is the tentatively planned roadmap for public release of this theme, things will probably change. I will update the roadmap in future posts, along with other blogs about coding, life in Japan, and what not. If I have time, I will pin a notion board tracking public release items.
